Surveillance leads to successful drug bust
The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Investigative Division conducted an extensive investigation to include hours of surveillance on a potential suspect involving alleged drug distribution in Brunswick County. A tactical traffic stop was conducted at Griffith Lane on Friday, March 25, 2016, at 5:00 p.m. wherein the Sheriff’s Office had active felony warrants for Wallace Cox, 37 year old male from Valentines, Virginia, for the distribution of cocaine and marijuana. The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team effectively and safely apprehended Mr. Cox and took him into custody. Items seized from the traffic stop included a 2004 GMC Sierra Pickup truck, thirty-two individual bags of crack cocaine, one bag of powder cocaine, one bag of marijuana and $1,651.64 in U.S. currency. Wallace Cox was arrested and is currently being held at the Meherrin River Regional Jail under no bond.
Sheriff Roberts said, “I made some personnel changes over the winter to create new ideas and initiatives as it relates to illegal drug activity and the enforcement of it. This is the first of many takedowns that we will be doing in the very near future. I am excited about what my team is doing and the new initiatives.”
