The program also incorporates lessons on gangs and bullying. Lt. Derrick Mays is our Dare Officer and has been teaching the DARE program for thirteen years. Currently, Lt. . Mays currently serves as Past President of the Virginia Dare Association where he works in conjunction with  other board members to set the standards for the DARE program.

CHILD IDENTIFICATION

The Kids Identify Safety System is a means of providing law enforcement with physical descriptors, photo ID, and fingerprints of your child in the event your child becomes missing.

In the event your child is missing, the first thing law enforcement needs is an accurate and immediate description of your child. The identification card generated by our Child ID system gives officers all the pertinent information to take immediate action in locating your missing child.

BUSINESS CHECKS

In an effort to deter crime and promote community awareness, our patrol staff routinely makes rounds every night checking on local businesses throughout the county.

To quickly and easily identify businesses, the county was divided into quadrants and businesses assigned a unique identification number. This number is used to communicate the officer's location and alert the dispatch staff of his location for the business check.
